Frank Kaminsky Critiques NCAA Tournament Draw for Badgers

Portland, March 17: Former Wisconsin Badgers star and Naismith Player of the Year, Frank Kaminsky, expressed his dissatisfaction with his alma mater’s NCAA Tournament draw. He believes the selection committee has consistently shortchanged the Badgers over the years.

Kaminsky is not alone in his frustration. The fifth-seeded Badgers will head west to face 12th-seeded High Point, a formidable 30-win team, and could potentially meet SEC champion Arkansas in the second round.

The games are set to take place in Portland, Oregon, with an early tip-off on March 19, scheduled before 11 a.m. local time.

In a recent post, Kaminsky remarked, “It’s laughable at this point. Happens almost every year. It’s clearly a bias against Wisconsin,” highlighting the ongoing concerns about the selection committee’s decisions.

Others share his sentiments. Trevor Land tweeted, “Absolute nightmare scenario for Wisconsin. High Point and then Arkansas all out in Portland? Goodness, the Badgers were given no favors.”

Brian Eich added, “Such crap. Thursday morning game out west, just like last year in Denver. The committee is corrupt.”

The Badgers will tip off at 1:50 PM ET, which translates to 10:50 AM in Portland. Lisa tweeted, “How much more can the committee screw the Badgers?”

This frustration is rooted in recent history. Last year, the Badgers faced an early game in Denver just days after competing in the Big Ten Tournament title match. They were also denied a more favorable location in Milwaukee, where they narrowly missed playing in their home arena.

In 2025, Wisconsin was sent to Denver, and in 2024, they were a trendy upset pick against 12th-seeded James Madison in Brooklyn, resulting in a disappointing loss. In 2019, they faced a similar fate in San Jose against Oregon, another matchup that favored their opponent.

This year, only St. Louis offers a venue within a six-hour drive of Madison, making any assignment a significant journey. While High Point boasts an impressive record, they have yet to face top-tier competition this season and will be traveling a considerable distance from North Carolina.
