IPL 2026: Vaibhav Suryaanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal Join Rajasthan Royals

New Delhi, March 17: The 19th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to kick off on March 28. Ahead of the tournament, 14-year-old batsman Vaibhav Suryaanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal have joined the Rajasthan Royals team. Rajasthan announced this news via a video shared on their social media account ‘X’.

Rajasthan Royals will begin their campaign in IPL 2026 against Chennai Super Kings on March 30. Last season was disappointing for Rajasthan, as they managed to win only 4 out of 14 matches, finishing in 9th place. For IPL 2026, Rajasthan has appointed Riyan Parag as captain. This season, Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran will also be seen playing for Rajasthan, having been traded from Chennai Super Kings in exchange for Sanju Samson.

Vaibhav Suryaanshi had an impressive performance in IPL 2025, scoring 252 runs at a strike rate of 206 across 7 matches. He made headlines by scoring a century off just 35 balls against Gujarat Titans, becoming the second-fastest player in IPL history to achieve this feat.

Despite a poor season for Rajasthan Royals, Yashasvi Jaiswal made a significant impact with his batting. He scored 559 runs at a strike rate of 159 in 14 matches, including 6 half-centuries. In IPL 2026, both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryaanshi are expected to open the batting for Rajasthan. With Sanju Samson absent, Yashasvi will carry a heavy responsibility this season. Additionally, IPL 2026 will test Riyan Parag’s leadership skills. In the first phase of the tournament, Rajasthan is scheduled to play a total of 4 matches, with three of them at their home ground.
