
Jaipur, August 19: In a significant operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested four police officers from the Cyber Crime Police Station in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. This action was taken following directives from the ACB headquarters. The officers are accused of soliciting a bribe of ₹2,80,000 from a complainant.
The arrested individuals include Sub-Inspector Yashwant Singh and Constables Pawan Tripathi, Sohanlal, and Gaurav Charag.
According to ACB Director General Govind Gupta, a complaint was received alleging that the accused officers were demanding a bribe in exchange for removing the complainant’s brother’s name from a case registered at the Ayodhya Cyber Crime Police Station.
On Monday, the alleged demand for the bribe was confirmed. During this confirmation, Constable Gaurav Charag reportedly asked for ₹4,00,000. After negotiations, the bribe amount was settled at ₹2,80,000. Following this confirmation, a trap operation was conducted on Tuesday under the supervision of ACB Deputy Inspector General Rameshwar Singh from Jaipur, along with ACB Sikar’s Additional Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar and Police Inspector Subhash Meel.
During the operation, Constable Sohanlal allegedly received ₹2,80,000 from the complainant in the presence of the other accused officers. Subsequently, the ACB team arrested all four police personnel.
Under the oversight of ACB Additional Director General Smita Srivastava and Inspector General of Police S. Parimala, the accused are currently being interrogated, and further actions are underway.
The ACB will file a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and will continue its investigation into the matter.
