New Delhi, August 18: Senior leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former Delhi government minister Satyendar Jain’s arrest has drawn sharp criticism from his party. AAP leaders have accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of politically motivated actions ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections.
They argue that the BJP is unable to compete with AAP in the electoral arena, prompting the use of central investigative agencies against them. AAP’s national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, took to the social media platform X to express his concerns about the government’s actions.
Kejriwal stated, “Once again, the BJP has orchestrated Satyendar Jain’s arrest. Everyone remembers the ordeal he faced when they imprisoned him earlier. The previous case was fabricated, and this one will also prove to be false. How long will this tyranny from the BJP continue? They imprison anyone they wish based on false allegations. Their lies will once again be exposed, but who will compensate for the time spent in jail and the mental torture endured?”
He further added that the BJP’s misdeeds have reached a tipping point. No matter how much tyranny they exert, the end of their government is inevitable. The entire AAP and the people of the country stand firmly with Satyendar Jain.
Manish Sisodia also commented on X, stating that Jain’s arrest comes just before the Punjab elections. He noted that Jain had previously spent two and a half years in jail over a fabricated case, and now faces another baseless accusation. The BJP, embroiled in issues ranging from the Zenji movement to allegations of corruption in the Ram Temple and E20, has resorted to old electoral tactics involving the ED, ACB, and CBI once again.
AAP’s media in-charge Anurag Dhanda remarked that the tender related to the current case was issued in October 2022, while Jain has been imprisoned by the BJP government since May 2022 for another matter. He claimed that the entire situation lacks logical basis and is a politically motivated conspiracy.
According to Dhanda, Jain’s arrest before the elections in Punjab is part of this political strategy.
Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Atishi also labeled Jain’s arrest as a politically motivated act. She stated that Jain had previously been allegedly implicated in a false case and is now facing similar actions again. Atishi emphasized that the BJP, in its arrogance of power, seems to forget that there are limits to lies and oppression.
She asserted that while governmental power can intimidate individuals temporarily, the truth cannot be suppressed forever. This struggle is not just about Satyendar Jain; it represents all those who raise their voices against the alleged misuse of power.
AAP has made it clear that it stands firmly with Satyendar Jain and will continue to address this issue at both political and legal levels.
