Four New Information Commissioners Sworn in Jharkhand, Governor Emphasizes Their Role in Transparent Governance

Ranchi, July 1: Four new Information Commissioners have been appointed to the Jharkhand State Information Commission. In a ceremony held at Lok Bhawan in Ranchi, Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar administered the oath of office to the newly appointed commissioners: Anuj Kumar Sinha, Tanuj Khatri, Shivpujan Pathak, and Amulya Neeraj Khalkho.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren was present at the event. After the oath-taking, the Governor extended his best wishes to the new commissioners for a successful tenure.

Chief Minister Soren also congratulated the newly appointed commissioners and wished them well in their roles. He stated that the Information Commission is a vital pillar of democratic governance, playing a crucial role in ensuring transparency, accountability, and good governance in administration. He expressed confidence that the commissioners would prioritize public interest and perform their duties impartially and effectively, in line with the core spirit of the Right to Information Act.

The Chief Minister noted that the Right to Information is an effective tool for strengthening democracy. He emphasized that the active and transparent functioning of the commission would enhance citizens’ trust in governance. He urged the new commissioners to work with sensitivity and fairness.

The event was also attended by Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, State Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey, Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji, MLA Baidyanath Ram, along with several senior officials from the state government and other distinguished guests. All present congratulated the new commissioners and wished them a successful tenure.

The positions of commissioners in the Jharkhand State Information Commission had been vacant for the past five years, leading to a backlog of thousands of cases. With the appointment of new commissioners, there is hope for strengthening the commission’s functioning and expediting the resolution of pending cases under the Right to Information Act.
