Former South African Cricketer Justin Kemp Appointed as Cricket Namibias Director of Cricket

Windhoek, June 10: Former South African all-rounder Justin Kemp has been appointed as the new Director of Cricket for Cricket Namibia. The announcement was made on Wednesday.

Cricket Namibia stated in a release, “As Director of Cricket, Kemp will oversee the strategic direction of cricket operations in Namibia. This includes national teams, high-performance programs, talent identification structures, coaching development methods, and the continuous growth of the sport across the country.”

The board emphasized, “This appointment aligns with Cricket Namibia’s vision to become a globally competitive cricket nation. Kemp’s international cricket experience and his work in some of the world’s top high-performance and franchise environments will aid in strengthening the organization’s cricket system and creating sustainable pathways from grassroots to international success.”

Cricket Namibia added, “As the organization continues to build on its recent achievements both on and off the field, this appointment is a significant step towards ensuring that Namibian cricket remains competitive on a global scale while also preparing the next generation of players.”

Kemp played for South Africa from 2001 to 2007 as a right-arm bowler and batsman, featuring in four Test matches, 85 ODIs, and eight T20s. In Tests, he took 9 wickets and scored 80 runs, while in ODIs, he claimed 32 wickets and amassed 1,512 runs, and in T20s, he scored 203 runs.

He has also played for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during their title-winning season in 2010. Before joining Namibia’s coaching staff last year, he served as the assistant coach for Western Province in South Africa’s domestic cricket system in 2024. Kemp has also coached in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
