UP T20 League: Abhishek Suspended for One Match, Rishabh and Kunal Fined for Code Violations

Kanpur, August 29: In a recent match of the UP T20 League at Green Park Stadium, Abhishek Goswami of Kashi Rudras has been suspended for one match after being found guilty of violating the code of conduct against Noida Kings. Additionally, two other players have been fined.

These incidents are related to the 23rd match of the tournament, where Rudras defeated Kings by 67 runs. Captain Karan Sharma played a crucial role in this victory, scoring a blistering 102 runs off 51 balls, which included 11 fours and five sixes. Goswami faced a Level 3 charge under Clause 2.17, which pertains to threatening or assaulting any player, team official, umpire, match referee, or spectator.

Due to the disciplinary action, Goswami will miss Kashi Rudras’ next match against Meerut Mavericks. He also received a separate Level 1 charge under Clause 2.3 for using abusive language during the game, resulting in an additional fine of 40% of his match fee.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Rajput was fined for a Level 1 violation under Clause 2.5 for using language, gestures, or actions that disrespected the batsman upon his dismissal or incited an aggressive response. Kunal Tyagi of Noida Kings was fined for not following the umpire’s instructions during the match, which falls under a Level 1 violation of Clause 2.4.

All players facing fines have been officially notified about the imposed sanctions. Reinforcing the administration’s strict stance on maintaining discipline, UPCA Media Committee Chairman Mohammad Fahim emphasized that behavior against the spirit of the game will not be tolerated.

He stated, “UPCA and the UP T20 League place the utmost importance on the integrity of the game. We have clear guidelines to ensure fair play, and we do not accept any behavior that undermines the dignity of the sport. Players are ambassadors of the game, and professional conduct is expected from them. These sanctions reflect our unwavering commitment to strictly enforce those standards.”
