Bengaluru, August 29: India’s top cricketers have successfully completed their pre-season testing at the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) state-of-the-art Center of Excellence (CoE). Notable players such as T20 captain Shreyas Iyer, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, and experienced all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja participated in the assessments.
These screenings were conducted to evaluate the fitness and physical capabilities of the players ahead of the busy international and domestic season for 2026/27.
On Saturday, BCCI announced via their social media accounts, “Pre-season testing for contracted players was conducted at the Center of Excellence. Players required to undergo essential fitness tests arrived in different batches to complete their assessments before the hectic season.”
Alongside Iyer, Jaiswal, and Jadeja, wicketkeeper-batsmen Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson, as well as batsmen Rinku Singh and Ruturaj Gaikwad, were also seen completing the testing process.
The CoE conducts annual pre-season screenings for contracted and targeted players, involving various fitness assessments and field-based tests. Throughout the week, each player arrived in Bengaluru in different batches for the testing.
After winning the Test series 1-0 against Sri Lanka, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja headed directly to the Center of Excellence. The Indian team is set to play a three-match T20 series against Afghanistan in New Delhi from September 13 to 17. Following this, under Iyer’s captaincy, Team India will participate in the Asian Games in September-October. During this period, India will also host a white-ball series against the West Indies from September 27 to October 17, featuring three ODIs and five T20 matches.
India will tour New Zealand from October 22 to December 1, where they will engage in a multi-format series consisting of two Tests, five ODIs, and five T20s. The series will conclude at home with three ODIs and three T20 matches against Sri Lanka, scheduled between December 13 and 27.
Meanwhile, players will also be busy with tournaments such as the Duleep Trophy, Irani Cup, Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and Vijay Hazare Trophy.
