Five New Mid-Size SUVs Set to Challenge Hyundai Creta in India

Mumbai, March 8: The mid-size SUV segment in India has long been dominated by the Hyundai Creta. However, in the coming months, five new formidable SUVs are set to enter the market, posing a significant challenge to Creta’s reign. Earlier this year, strong contenders like the Tata Sierra, Maruti e-Vitara, and the new Kia Seltos made their debut. Now, let’s explore these five upcoming SUVs that will soon be available in showrooms.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Abela

Toyota is gearing up to launch its new electric SUV, the ‘Abela.’ Essentially a Toyota version of Maruti’s e-Vitara, it boasts a premium, European-style design. The SUV will feature stunning 18-inch alloy wheels and a sleek front grille. According to media reports, this EV could offer a range of up to 543 km on a full charge.

All-New Renault Duster

Renault is set to relaunch the Duster, which was once the number one SUV in the country, on March 17. The third-generation Renault Duster has undergone a complete transformation. It will come equipped with a 10.25-inch digital cluster, an infotainment system with Google Maps, and 17 advanced ADAS features. Initially, it will be available with 1.0 and 1.3-liter turbo petrol engines, with a robust hybrid engine expected by the end of the year.

New Skoda Kushaq

Skoda is bringing its popular SUV, the Kushaq, in a ‘facelifted’ version. This model will introduce features that are firsts in this segment. Additionally, it will include a panoramic sunroof, an 8-speed automatic transmission, and disc brakes on all four wheels. The launch is anticipated in March.

Nissan Tecton

Nissan is preparing to make a mark in the market with its new SUV, the ‘Tecton.’ This vehicle will be a partner car to the Renault Duster. Its design is expected to resemble the muscular and boxy look of the well-known ‘Nissan Patrol.’ Notably, it will have a strong road presence, setting it apart from the Duster and giving it a more rugged appearance. The Tecton is expected to hit the market by April.

New Volkswagen Taigun

Similar to the Kushaq, Volkswagen is also set to launch a new version of its Taigun in April. This updated model will feature new headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a refreshed bumper. It will also include premium features such as a panoramic sunroof, massage rear seats, and an 8-speed gearbox.
