
Abu Dhabi, April 5: A fire has erupted in several sections of the Borouge Petrochemicals Plant located in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, leading to a suspension of operations.
The Abu Dhabi Media Office announced the incident on the X platform. It was reported that the Air Defense Force successfully thwarted an airstrike; however, debris from the incident caused fires in multiple areas of the plant.
In the midst of firefighting efforts, work at the plant has been immediately halted until damage assessments can be completed. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries. The office stated that updates will be provided to the public. Citizens are urged to refrain from believing rumors and to stay informed through official government communications, avoiding the spread of unverified information.
In a related incident, several operational units of the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company in Bahrain were targeted by a drone attack. According to the Bahrain News Agency, the Iranian drone strike ignited fires in the units, but they were eventually brought under control.
Reports indicate that there have been no casualties, and special teams are currently assessing the full extent of the damage from this incident.
Additionally, local media in Kuwait reported overnight drone attacks that caused significant damage to power and water plants as well as oil facilities.
According to reports, Kuwait and the UAE have been primary targets of Iranian attacks in recent days. Officials noted that the drone strikes targeted two desalination plants, resulting in substantial damage.
Furthermore, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation reported that a fire broke out in the Shuwaikh oil sector complex following the drone attack.
Since the joint US-Israel attacks on February 28, Gulf nations have been under threat, with Iran retaliating by targeting US military bases in these countries with missile or drone strikes.
