Fertilizer Shortage Looms Due to Middle East Conflict, Warns Telangana CM

Hyderabad, March 22: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has warned that ongoing conflicts in the Middle East may lead to a shortage of fertilizers. He urged officials to persuade the central government to allocate more fertilizers to the state. Leaders from all parties should meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to secure maximum urea allocation for Telangana.

Addressing a public gathering in Narmeta, Siddipet district, the Chief Minister emphasized that this is not the time for politics but for unity and collaboration. “We engage in politics only during elections. Once they are over, the development of our state becomes our sole priority,” he stated.

The Chief Minister, alongside Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao and other ministers, inaugurated an oil palm factory. Built on 32 acres at a cost of ₹300 crore, this factory features a refinery, which is being constructed at an investment of ₹80 crore. Remarkably, this oil palm factory is the first of its kind in the country, completed in just 16 months, with a crushing capacity ranging from 30 to 180 tons per hour.

During the event, the Chief Minister visited stalls set up under the ‘Raitu Mahotsav’, showcasing agricultural mechanization, oil palm cultivation methods, and related sectors such as horticulture, dairy, and aquaculture. He noted that oil palm cultivation in the state has expanded to 300,000 acres. He reassured farmers that even if oil palm cultivation reaches one million acres, the government remains fully committed to purchasing their produce. He also requested Minister Nageshwar Rao to establish an oil palm processing plant in the Kodangal Assembly constituency, highlighting the benefits of this farming method for farmers.

In a pointed remark, the Chief Minister criticized BRS leader and MLA T. Harish Rao, stating that this project is intended for the benefit of farmers, not the local legislator. He declared that any leader who defeats the BRS candidate in the upcoming elections in Siddipet will be included in the state cabinet. He urged voters to give others a chance for change, as the constituency has been represented by the same family for over 30 years.

The Chief Minister asserted that his government does not discriminate against anyone. He expressed readiness to debate allegations of discrimination against the Kodangal constituency during BRS rule. CM Rao reiterated that the Congress party will secure a majority in the 2029 Assembly elections.

Highlighting welfare and women empowerment initiatives, the Chief Minister announced free travel for women on RTC buses. The government aims to empower women by allowing them to own RTC bus fleets, with a goal of making one million women millionaires.

CM Rao instructed officials to increase membership of women’s self-help groups in urban areas. The government has already provided ₹57,000 crore in loans to these groups through bank linkages.
