False Bomb Threat at Mumbai Airport Leads to Arrest

Mumbai, March 29: A 58-year-old man named Shanti Kothari was arrested for making a false bomb threat at Mumbai International Airport. Kothari, a resident of the Sakina area, reportedly shouted that “there is a bomb on the flight to Ghaziabad” while boarding flight 6E 355 to Delhi, causing panic in the airport premises.

According to police and airport authorities, the incident prompted immediate action from immigration officials and airport security personnel. CISF officers and other relevant departments quickly arrived at the scene to manage the situation. The threat created a state of fear and confusion among passengers and airport staff.

The Sahar police have filed an FIR against Kothari under the relevant sections of the law. Authorities are investigating his background and mental state. The incident occurred near boarding gate number 51, where Kothari was making alarming and intimidating statements as he attempted to board the flight.

A complainant, who was on duty at gate number 51, reported that he was overseeing the boarding process for the flight to Delhi and assisting passengers. He stated that Kothari’s sudden threat caused chaos at the gate, but airport security officials swiftly took control of the situation.

Officials emphasize that making false bomb threats is considered a serious crime, punishable by law. The police have urged passengers and airport employees to report any suspicious activities immediately to prevent potential disasters.

Shanti Kothari is currently in custody, and police are proceeding with further legal action against him. This incident serves as a warning regarding airport security, prompting the administration to tighten security checks and surveillance to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
