Nalbari, March 29: Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed a public gathering in Nalbari on Saturday, where he launched a strong attack on the Congress party. He emphasized the need to press the button on the lotus symbol with such force that every illegal immigrant leaves Assam.
Shah criticized the Congress government for allegedly opening doors to immigrants over the years. He praised Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for sealing the state’s borders against illegal immigration. He noted that immigrants had occupied 125,000 acres of land, a situation that Sarma is now working to rectify.
He stated that while the BJP has successfully halted illegal immigration over the past decade, the task of removing these immigrants is still pending. With the BJP now in power for the third time, Shah promised to meticulously identify and expel each illegal immigrant. He asserted that Assam’s land, soil, and culture belong to its residents, and no immigrant has a right to it. He accused the Congress party of altering Assam’s demographics for electoral gains.
Shah pointed out that Dhubri and its surrounding districts have become overrun with immigrants, leading to the formation of Muslim-majority areas. He challenged Gaurav Gogoi and Rahul Gandhi, insisting that no matter how hard they try, every illegal immigrant must return to their original homes. He noted that immigrants from Bengal and Assam have spread across the country, and the Election Commission is conducting a Special Investigation Report (SIR) to address this issue, which Gandhi opposes.
He questioned whether the names of illegal immigrants should be included in the voter list. The Election Commission is working to remove these names, while the Congress party is allegedly trying to obstruct this process. Shah reassured the public, stating that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, every illegal immigrant will be located, removed from the voter list, and sent back to where they came from.
