Direct Air Connectivity Launched Between Bhavnagar and Navi Mumbai

Mumbai, March 29: Bhavnagar in Gujarat has officially gained direct air connectivity to Navi Mumbai as of Sunday. The inaugural flight on this new route was flagged off, marking a significant expansion in regional air connectivity. This development enhances the city’s access to major domestic and international networks.

The first service from Bhavnagar Airport was inaugurated by Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu. Prior to departure, the aircraft received a ceremonial ‘water salute,’ symbolizing the formal commencement of operations on this route.

Speaking at the event, Naidu noted that this initiative followed repeated requests to the Ministry of Civil Aviation for improved air connectivity to Bhavnagar. He stated, “The air service between Bhavnagar and Navi Mumbai has commenced today. I congratulate the people of Bhavnagar. This connectivity will not only serve local needs but will also link Bhavnagar to the country and the world.”

Union Minister Nimuben Bhamaniya described this development as a historic and proud moment for the city and its residents. She expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for facilitating this service, stating that it would open new avenues for development.

According to officials, IndiGo will operate two flights daily on this route, departing at 8:35 AM and 8:50 PM. This service is expected to bolster Bhavnagar’s industrial, commercial, and tourism sectors while improving access to other metropolitan areas through onward flights from Navi Mumbai.

The inaugural flight included thirty differently-abled passengers, reflecting the broad public interest in this new service, as noted by the organizers. Later, a welcome ceremony was held in Bhavnagar in honor of Naidu, symbolizing the launch of this service.

Addressing the gathering, Bhamaniya highlighted that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India has become the third-largest domestic aviation market in the world. She mentioned that the number of airports in the country has increased from 74 in 2014 to 165 by 2026, and she pointed out the new airport being constructed near Dholera as part of extensive infrastructure expansion.

Naidu emphasized that the growth of the aviation sector is crucial for achieving the goal of a ‘Developed India.’
