Eric Solheim Praises PM Modis Unmatched Popularity on Global Stage

New Delhi, May 6: Former Norwegian Climate and Environment Minister Eric Solheim praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. He compared Modi’s popularity to global leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump, stating that no one comes close to the level of support Modi has garnered through hard work and a vision for India’s development.

In an interview with a news agency, Solheim noted that it is rare for any leader to maintain such strong public support for an extended period in a democracy.

“Prime Minister Modi is extremely popular in India. I believe it is very uncommon for a leader to sustain such significant backing for so long, as PM Modi has,” he said.

Solheim further remarked, “Perhaps in the 1950s, leaders in Europe could dream of such support during rapid development, but today, this is truly special and unique.”

His comments come at a time when U.S. data analytics firm Morning Consult’s survey ranked PM Modi as the world’s most popular leader. Conducted between March 2 and 8, the survey indicated that Modi holds a robust approval rating of 68%, far ahead of other global leaders.

“I currently do not think there is any leader in the world as popular in their country as Prime Minister Modi,” Solheim added.

He mentioned, “There might be leaders in smaller countries with similar popularity, but you won’t find such a leader in a large nation. Even U.S. President Trump does not match PM Modi’s popularity, nor do any European leaders. In my view, he is truly a global leader.”

Solheim also highlighted that Modi’s personal journey contributes significantly to his popularity. He noted that rising from a humble family in Gujarat, where his family sold tea at a small railway station, to becoming one of the world’s most influential leaders is highly inspirational.
