Englands Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt Set to Play in Womens T20 World Cup Semi-Final Against South Africa

London, July 1: The second semi-final of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 is set to take place on Thursday between host England and South Africa. In a boost for England, team captain Nat Sciver-Brunt has been declared fit to play.

Sciver-Brunt confirmed her return to the playing eleven during a press conference held at The Oval on Wednesday. She stated, “We have really given our all. I am very happy with where I am physically. The medical team is pleased. I can participate fully in the game. I am very happy.”

Her return strengthens England’s lineup, providing an additional bowling option that enhances the team’s balance.

Sciver-Brunt had suffered a retired hurt during the match against Ireland in Southampton. Prior to that, she was injured while playing domestic cricket at the end of April, which prevented her from participating in the series against India and New Zealand.

Before the tournament, she played both warm-up matches, scoring 3 runs against Australia and 57 against India. In the World Cup, she scored 46 and 48 runs against Sri Lanka and Ireland, respectively.

England reached the semi-finals after winning all five of their group matches. With Sciver-Brunt’s return, an already strong team is set to become even more formidable.

One of England’s greatest strengths is their top order, led by tournament’s leading run-scorer Danni Wyatt-Hodge. The experienced opener has amassed 282 runs at an average of 94 over five innings, including an unbeaten 89 against New Zealand at The Oval. She has already received three Player of the Match awards.
