
Mumbai, August 23: An engineering student has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run incident involving a 15-year-old girl in Ville Parle, Mumbai. The girl, an American citizen of Indian descent, was injured while crossing the road near Mithibai College on NS Road Number 1.
The motorcyclist fled the scene immediately after the accident. Officers from the Juhu police station registered a case of reckless driving and utilized CCTV footage to identify the suspect. The biker has been identified as 21-year-old Divit Amit Mehta, a student of engineering.
According to authorities, the girl was struck by the speeding motorcycle as she attempted to cross the road during heavy traffic. The impact left her injured on the pavement.
Upon receiving news of the incident, police arrived quickly and arranged for the injured girl to be transported to a nearby hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment.
The Juhu police have filed a case against an unidentified individual and initiated an investigation. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from cameras located near the accident site to identify the motorcycle and its rider.
Authorities have examined footage from nearby shops, buildings, junctions, and other locations around NS Road Number 1 and Mithibai College. Legal action has commenced, and further measures will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
