Azamgarh, February 11: The Lakshmi Didi Scheme, launched by the Modi government, is significantly empowering women in Azamgarh. This initiative not only provides financial support but also opens doors to economic independence. Women across the country are experiencing positive changes, and those in Azamgarh are particularly grateful for the benefits it brings.
The Lakshmi Didi Scheme has transformed the lives of many women, enabling them to stand on their own feet and support their families. Savitri Singh Chauhan, treasurer of the Aakash Self-Help Group, shared that she and her father run a sheltering business, saving at least 10,000 rupees each month after covering their expenses. Thanks to the scheme, they have received annual benefits ranging from 120,000 to 35,000 rupees.
Sunita, president of the Chandni Self-Help Group, expressed how the scheme has changed her life completely, allowing her to provide well for her family. She stated, “I completed my BA, but no one knew me before. Now, I am recognized in my area as Lakshmi Didi. The scheme has not only helped me earn money but also brought me respect. I took an 80,000 rupee loan to start my own beauty parlor, earning around 130,000 rupees annually.”
Sharda Devi, treasurer of the Maa Sharda Self-Help Group, credited Chief Minister Yogi for providing respect and security to women from marginalized communities. They handle bill collection and earn about 35,000 rupees monthly. “Under Yogi’s government, we have no security concerns, allowing us to work comfortably,” she added.
District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that the benefits of the scheme reach the grassroots level. He noted that Azamgarh has faced specific issues, particularly land disputes, which are gradually being addressed.
He also highlighted the importance of cleanliness in the city, referencing Prime Minister Modi’s mention of the Tamasa River during his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address. “This river runs through the city, necessitating cleanliness efforts. Over the past nine months, we have conducted two phases of a cleanliness campaign, and other initiatives are ongoing,” he explained.
Furthermore, he mentioned efforts to enhance youth employment and income, promoting prosperity and economic growth. In the last two months, action has been taken against 113 offenders under the Gangster Act to strengthen law and order.
