Election Commission Team to Visit Kolkata for Two-Day Review on March 9

Kolkata, March 6: The Election Commission of India (ECI) will embark on a two-day visit to West Bengal starting March 9. Led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, the team is scheduled to arrive in Kolkata on the night of March 8. They will review two significant issues on March 9 and 10.

Manoj Agarwal, the Chief Executive Officer of West Bengal, spoke to a news agency, stating, “The ECI team is coming to West Bengal on March 9 and 10 to discuss various issues and future tasks. They are arriving under the leadership of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.”

Regarding the removal of names from the voter list, Agarwal emphasized, “We have not removed anyone’s name. All actions are being carried out according to regulations. We follow the orders given to us. We cannot disclose much about this. The ECI team will also meet with journalists and political parties. Further information will be provided by them.”

According to sources from the Chief Electoral Officer’s (CEO) office, the full bench of the commission will meet representatives of various registered political parties from 10 AM to 12 PM on March 9. Each party will be allotted approximately 10 minutes to present their views.

Following this, around 12:30 PM, Manoj Kumar Agarwal will give a presentation to the full bench of the commission. This presentation will cover the status of judicial decisions and election preparations, lasting about 30 minutes. Subsequently, from 1:15 PM to 1:30 PM, the full bench will meet with representatives from various state and central security and investigative agencies.

An insider from the CEO’s office revealed that around 24 agencies, including district magistrates and district police superintendents, will participate in this meeting. This will conclude the agenda for March 9. On March 10, the entire Election Commission team will meet with top officials of the state government and senior police officers, including Chief Secretary Nandini Chakraborty and Acting Director General of Police Piyush Pandey.
