New Delhi, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : The Election Commission of India (ECI) has clarified that former election commissioner S.S. Sandhu will be included in the final voter list. This announcement comes in response to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) notice issued to Sandhu.
In a statement released on Sunday, the ECI confirmed that Sandhu’s voter entry for Assembly Constituency-38 (Delhi Cantt) has already been verified for inclusion in the final list. The finalized voter list is set to be published on November 11.
The commission addressed misleading information circulating on social media regarding the SIR notice issued to Sandhu. According to the ECI, during the 2026 SIR process, Sandhu’s entry was flagged under the category of “discrepancy in name.” This classification was based on the information provided in the enumeration form and a comparison with previous voter lists.
The ECI explained that notices are being issued to voters whose entries could not be logically matched with the previous voter list or contain discrepancies. Furthermore, it noted that names of members of the judiciary, elected representatives, constitutional officials, and prominent figures from arts, culture, journalism, sports, and public service are also included in the draft voter list for necessary documentation during the claim and objection period.
Voters who receive a notice can submit the required documents to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO). Following verification by Booth Level Officers (BLO), these notices will be resolved by October 29.
The Election Commission reiterated its commitment to ensuring a transparent, participatory, and inclusive voter list revision process, aiming to ensure that no eligible citizen is left out while preventing ineligible individuals from being included.
