BJP Criticizes Congress Government in Himachal Pradesh for Corruption and Ineffective Policies

Nahan, October 13 (Daily Kiran) : Himachal Pradesh BJP president Rajeev Bindal launched a strong critique of Chief Minister Sukhu’s Congress government during a party event in Nahan on October 13. He accused the administration of rampant corruption, nepotism, alleged mafia activities, and anti-people policies throughout its nearly four-year term.

Bindal claimed that instead of promoting development, the government has plunged Himachal Pradesh into a debt crisis, increasing the financial burden on ordinary citizens. He pointed to rising diesel prices, cement costs, electricity bills, transport fares, stamp duties, and various government service fees as factors that have negatively impacted poor and middle-class families.

“The Congress government is now known for taxes, closing institutions, and appeasement politics rather than development,” Bindal stated. He criticized decisions that led to the closure or disruption of educational institutions, health centers, veterinary hospitals, sub-tehsils, and patwari circles.

The state BJP leader raised concerns about the implementation of welfare schemes like school uniforms, Himcare, and Sahara, alleging that deficiencies in their distribution have exacerbated difficulties for the public. Bindal accused the government of accumulating nearly ₹45,000 crore in debt over its tenure while failing to improve the state’s financial situation. He alleged that the administration prioritized political appointments and administrative expenses over public welfare.

He questioned the expenditures on advisors, officers on special duty (OSD), and various political appointees, highlighting that government employees, pensioners, and unemployed youth are facing significant economic challenges. Bindal also criticized the government for rising electricity bills, expensive public services, insufficient job opportunities, and the growing issue of drug abuse.

Furthermore, he pointed out that residents are struggling to access adequate educational and healthcare facilities while the Congress government has failed to fulfill many of its electoral promises. Bindal expressed concern over the unfulfilled promise of monthly financial assistance of ₹1,500 to women, noting that thousands are still awaiting this support.

He argued that, based on the Congress party’s pledge made in December 2022, each eligible woman should have received a total of approximately ₹75,000 over the four years. He claimed that many women were promised assistance but have yet to receive it.

The BJP leader also questioned the government’s commitments related to employment, recalling the Congress’s promises of one lakh government jobs and five lakh employment opportunities. He stated that unemployed youth are demanding answers regarding these promises and inquired why electricity bills are rising despite pledges for free power.
