Sirsa, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : Congress MP Kumari Selja has raised serious concerns regarding the Indian government’s handling of several issues, including recurring paper leaks and discrepancies in voter lists. Speaking in Sirsa, she emphasized that these problems are jeopardizing the future of students and causing distress among the public, particularly senior citizens.
Selja pointed out that the frequent occurrence of paper leaks is alarming. Such incidents not only undermine the hard work of students but also create anxiety for their parents. She referenced a recent incident near Delhi University that highlighted the challenges students face in their academic pursuits. According to her, the combination of existing difficulties and the threat of paper leaks raises significant questions about the integrity of the educational system.
In her remarks, Selja also noted that Rahul Gandhi is actively voicing the concerns of the youth. Through the “Students’ Echo” initiative, they aim to bring attention to various issues affecting students and advocate for their demands. She criticized the central government for neglecting the education and future prospects of students.
Addressing the situation in West Bengal related to voter lists, Selja remarked on the disputes arising in different regions of the country. She mentioned numerous complaints about voters’ names being removed from the lists. In many cases, those who file complaints are not from the respective areas, and when summoned, they often do not appear. She described this as a serious issue related to the voter list preparation process and called on the government to rectify the systemic flaws.
Selja highlighted that sometimes, names of certain family members are omitted from the voter lists, forcing them to navigate the bureaucratic process to get their names reinstated. This, she argued, causes unnecessary hardship for senior citizens.
The Congress MP further criticized the government, stating, “There is rampant corruption in the name of jobs, education, and examinations.” She also addressed concerns related to the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), noting that while individual transactions may not be directly impacted, the costs incurred by small shopkeepers and traders ultimately affect consumers. Various business associations have expressed their concerns in writing, particularly as market activities increase during festive seasons, which could have a broader economic impact.
Selja also took aim at the government’s economic policies, questioning its import and trade strategies. She urged the government to develop policies that protect the interests of the country and safeguard the economic well-being of ordinary and impoverished citizens.
Concluding her remarks, Selja pointed out that millions of people rely on just five kilograms of grain each month. She stressed the need for the government to focus on job creation, relief from inflation, and the establishment of effective economic policies.
