Cairo, June 6: Egypt has strongly condemned the alleged Iranian attacks targeting Kuwait and Bahrain. On Saturday, the Egyptian government described these actions as a clear violation of the sovereignty of both nations and a “dangerous provocation” to the security and stability of the entire region.
In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its unwavering support for Kuwait and Bahrain, backing all measures they take in response to the attacks. The ministry emphasized that Egypt will support any steps taken by both countries to safeguard their security, stability, and critical infrastructure.
The statement further asserted that the security and stability of Gulf nations are fundamental to Arab national security. Egypt also made it clear that it completely rejects any actions or policies that violate a country’s sovereignty or threaten its territorial integrity and security.
Egypt warned that such incidents pose a serious threat to regional stability and could escalate tensions further.
In fact, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed on Saturday morning that it targeted U.S. installations in retaliation against the U.S. Central Command. Following this, CENTCOM reported that it intercepted and destroyed ballistic missiles and drones launched towards Bahrain and Kuwait by Iran.
CENTCOM issued a statement indicating that on June 5, Iran had sent four unidirectional drones towards the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. forces successfully shot down all these drones, which posed an immediate threat to maritime traffic in the region.
Just hours after the drone attacks, Iran launched seven ballistic missiles towards Kuwait and Bahrain. Initial assessments indicated that six of these missiles were intercepted and destroyed mid-flight, while the seventh missile failed to reach its intended target. Additionally, Iran’s claim that damage was inflicted on the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain was also dismissed.
