Eelam Tamil Women’s Delegation Appeals for Support from Stalin in Chennai

Chennai, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : A delegation representing Eelam Tamil women met with former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin at Anna Arivalayam in Chennai on Saturday. The group called for ongoing support for the rights and safety of the Tamil community in Sri Lanka.

According to a statement released by the organization, the delegation consisted of ten women from eight districts in traditional Tamil areas of Sri Lanka.

The representatives highlighted their unity in drawing attention to alleged efforts to undermine the cultural heritage, identity, and concept of homeland for Eelam Tamils.

Notable members included Santhamalai Anthony Johnson from Trincomalee, Lakshminarajani Jayaprakash from Batticaloa, Sindhuja Chauhan from Ampara, Jagadambigai Vigneswaran from Mullaitivu, Sarojah Kuganesadasan from Vavuniya, and Patricia Alex from Mannar. Additionally, Venselin Kandasamy and Subadharsini Sachithanandam represented Kilinochchi, while Jamuna Chandrakumar and Vimaleswary Srikantharupan were from Jaffna.

During the meeting, the representatives informed Stalin about the political, cultural, and humanitarian challenges faced by the Tamil population in Sri Lanka. They alleged that there are systematic efforts to weaken Tamil identity and alter the character of traditional Tamil regions.

The organization described these developments as evidence of a “genocide” aimed at erasing the established culture and national identity of Eelam Tamils.

The delegation urged political parties and social organizations in Tamil Nadu to pay more attention to the situation of Tamil communities in Sri Lanka. They expressed gratitude to the people of Tamil Nadu for their longstanding solidarity and support for Sri Lankan Tamils, particularly those who have raised awareness about alleged human rights violations and sought justice for affected individuals.

Members of the delegation stated that the support from the people of Tamil Nadu has empowered families in Sri Lanka to demand justice, accountability, and political rights.

They urged Stalin and the DMK to consistently raise the issues concerning Eelam Tamils on national and international platforms. They emphasized the need to protect the cultural identity, land rights, and dignity of the Tamil community, as well as to ensure justice for those affected by the ongoing conflict.
