Lucknow, June 14: Fakhrul Chand Hasan, spokesperson for the Samajwadi Party, has taken a firm stance against political activities in educational institutions. He emphasized that campuses should remain centers of knowledge and education, not political arenas. He stated that while discussions around slogans or religious references should not lead to unnecessary controversies, it is crucial to maintain the dignity of these institutions.
Hasan remarked, “The Samajwadi Party believes that there should be no political activities in educational institutions. As for slogans, no one should have an objection to them. Even mentioning Lord Ram should not offend anyone, but political events should not take place in educational settings.”
Discussing the NEET exam and the education system, he insisted that the examination should be conducted transparently and without any paper leaks. “Students’ futures should not be jeopardized. It is the government’s responsibility to strengthen the examination system,” he added.
He also addressed the opposition alliance and seat-sharing arrangements. Hasan noted that both the Samajwadi Party and Congress are part of the INDIA alliance and are focused on strengthening their organizations across Uttar Pradesh’s 403 assembly seats. He stated that organizational strength, addressing shortcomings, and preparing at the booth level are natural responsibilities for every party.
He further explained that the essence of the alliance is to field joint candidates for the seats allocated to each party. Hasan claimed that both Congress and the Samajwadi Party are preparing for all 403 seats, with the ultimate goal of defeating the Bharatiya Janata Party.
He emphasized that while preparations are at different levels, the final objective remains the same. “The essence of the alliance is for all parties to fight the elections together and remove the BJP from power,” he said.
Hasan asserted that the Samajwadi Party stands firmly with its PDA ideology and will not succumb to any pressure. “We will continue to fight for our rights and dignity,” he stated.
In response to a statement from a minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, Hasan remarked that the government operates on public funds, not on personal leadership finances. He pointed out that the rations, fuel, and other facilities provided to the public come from taxpayers’ money. He questioned why leaders should take credit for initiatives funded by the public.
He stated, “The rations or facilities being provided are funded by the public’s taxes. Ministers or leaders are not giving anything from their personal finances, so they should understand this before making statements.”
Hasan also made serious allegations against the central government regarding a case involving former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He accused the BJP of misusing agencies against opposition leaders in BJP-ruled states. He claimed that attempts are being made to intimidate and suppress the opposition, but the Samajwadi Party and the entire INDIA alliance will not be intimidated.
He referenced a recent attack by the United States off the coast of Oman, highlighting the tragic loss of Indian citizens. He expressed concern that the government should have responded more strongly to this incident, which he finds alarming.
Hasan concluded by stating that the Indian government should prioritize the respect and safety of its citizens and respond diplomatically to such incidents.
