ED Freezes 17 Properties Worth ₹6.52 Crore Linked to Notorious Gangster Suresh Patel in Gujarat

Surat, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has made significant strides in its investigation against notorious businessman and gangster Suresh Jagubhai Patel, also known as Sukha, in Gujarat. On September 8, 2026, the ED’s Surat sub-regional office temporarily attached 17 properties associated with Patel under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) of 2002. The estimated value of these assets is approximately ₹6.52 crore.

This action targets properties located in Daman and Valsad. The investigation was initiated based on multiple FIRs filed by the Daman police, Gujarat police, and Mumbai police against Patel and his associates.

According to the ED, Patel faces serious charges, including corruption, illegal possession of firearms, murder, extortion, fraud, passport forgery, and copyright infringement. The agency’s findings reveal that Patel monopolized the scrap trading and transport services business in Daman. He allegedly used threats and intimidation against rival traders to eliminate competition, leveraging fear from his criminal background to dominate the market.

Previously, on November 27, 2024, the ED filed a prosecution complaint in a special PMLA court in Daman, naming Patel and his associate Mahesh Nanda among the accused. This recent move is not the ED’s first action in this case. During earlier raids, the agency seized and froze ₹2.90 crore in cash and bank balances, along with attaching 24 properties in Daman and Mumbai valued at ₹4.42 crore. This attachment was also confirmed by the PMLA’s adjudicating authority in New Delhi.

With the latest developments, the total value of seized, attached, and frozen assets in this case has reached ₹13.85 crore. The ED has indicated that the investigation is ongoing, and further significant revelations may emerge in the coming days.
