Raees Sheikh Congratulates Indian Cricket Team, Raises Concerns Over UCC in Gujarat
Raees Sheikh commends the Indian cricket teams victory while criticizing the UCCs approval in Gujarat, claiming it undermines minority rights.

Mumbai, October 3 (Daily Kiran) : Maharashtra’s Samajwadi Party MLA Raees Sheikh recently congratulated the Indian cricket team for their victory against Pakistan. He expressed pride in the team’s performance, stating they have once again proven their capabilities on the cricket field. Sheikh extended his best wishes to the players, hoping they continue to win the hearts of the nation.
In a separate matter, Sheikh voiced his objections regarding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) recently approved in Gujarat by President Droupadi Murmu. He accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of advancing its agenda through this legislation. Sheikh argued that the UCC is aimed at undermining the rights of minorities and criticized the lack of thorough discussion surrounding its implementation. He emphasized the need for dialogue among various communities, suggesting that such discussions should also take place in Maharashtra. Sheikh asserted that the country is not yet prepared for the UCC, hinting that future governments may attempt to amend the law.
Addressing the BJP’s complaints about protests related to the Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP), Sheikh defended the right to protest as a constitutional guarantee. He claimed that the BJP is using police force to suppress dissent, noting the growing public anger on this issue. The movement demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is expected to continue.
Sheikh also commented on the upcoming joint protest by Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray in Mumbai, stating his support for any political party or leader standing against perceived tyranny.
He praised Captain Smita for her bravery in a recent incident, highlighting the need to investigate all aspects of the event. Sheikh commended her efforts to save passengers, stating that her actions have elevated India’s reputation globally.
Finally, responding to comments made by RSS leader Indresh Kumar regarding Muslim leaders, Sheikh suggested that instead of making remarks about Muslim community issues, Kumar should focus on the work of his own organization. He stressed that decisions and leadership concerning the Muslim community should be left to its leaders and members.
