Palakkad, October 3 (Daily Kiran) : CPI(M) Kerala state secretary MV Govindan launched a strong critique against the Congress-led UDF government on Saturday. He accused the ruling coalition of being deeply fractured and suggested that Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan is adopting policies favorable to the BJP and RSS.
During a media interaction in Palakkad, Govindan stated, “The entire UDF structure in Kerala has become disorganized. Even UDF convenor Adoor Prakash has admitted he is unaware of many developments.” He pointed out that only a few individuals are voicing support for Satheesan, while a larger number within the Congress seem to back Adoor Prakash.
“There is a significant divide within the Congress and UDF. More people are supporting Adoor Prakash, and very few are speaking in favor of the Chief Minister,” Govindan noted. He questioned how the UDF could function effectively without proper consultation among its member parties and leaders. “How can UDF affairs be managed without discussion?” he asked.
Govindan alleged that the state government is leaning towards the BJP. He further claimed that the RSS and BJP are backing Satheesan. “The V.D. Satheesan government is an RSS-sponsored government,” he asserted.
His comments come at a time when internal disagreements regarding the government’s functioning and the lack of consultation with coalition partners are becoming increasingly apparent within the Congress and UDF. Govindan also targeted the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), accusing the party of capitulating to the growing influence of the RSS.
This statement from the CPI(M) state secretary intensifies the political attack on the UDF government, coinciding with visible rifts among senior leaders of the Congress and UDF. Govindan emphasized that the current situation illustrates a serious crisis within the Congress-led coalition. He reiterated the importance of collective deliberation for the UDF to operate effectively.
Following a significant defeat in the assembly elections, where the CPI(M)-led Left Front’s seats dropped from 99 to 35 in the 140-member assembly, this issue has become a focal point for targeting the Satheesan government.
