Hyderabad, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has apprehended Kailash Chand Mangla, a promoter of Sukriti Foods Private Limited, in connection with a ghee adulteration case linked to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD). The arrest took place on September 18 in Hyderabad under Section 19 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.
Following the arrest, Mangla was presented before a special court in Visakhapatnam, which ordered his judicial custody. The ED initiated its investigation based on a First Information Report (FIR) filed at the Tirupati East police station. The FIR alleges a criminal conspiracy, fraud, forgery, and corruption related to the fraudulent supply of adulterated ghee to TTD.
Investigators revealed that the adulterated ghee was allegedly produced using a mix of refined palm oil, palm kernel oil, palmolein, MG-90, monoglycerides, Myvese Soft 400, and acetic acid esters. This substandard product was then supplied to TTD as Agmark special grade cow ghee.
From 2019 to 2024, the value of the fraudulent ghee supplied to TTD is estimated at around ₹230 crore, with approximately ₹96 crore worth of the adulterated ghee being produced by Mangla. The ED identified him as one of the co-conspirators who facilitated the purchase of adulterated ghee and its production in his factory.
Furthermore, Mangla coordinated the supply of the adulterated ghee through various fake companies, including Shri Vaishnavi Dairy Specialties Private Limited, Malganga Milk and Agro Products Private Limited, and A.R. Dairy Foods Private Limited. The investigation also uncovered that he maintained fraudulent records related to the sale and purchase of ghee and refined palm oil, concealing the true extent of the adulteration while creating the illusion of legitimate production and supply of genuine cow ghee.
