
Hingoli, October 3 (Daily Kiran) : Residents of Hingoli, Maharashtra, felt the tremors of two earthquakes on Saturday, October 3. The first quake, recorded at 7:46 AM, had a magnitude of 3.3 on the Richter scale. Its epicenter was located near the village of Gadhal in Hingoli district, approximately 7 kilometers deep.
The initial quake caused a brief wave of fear among citizens. Fortunately, no reports of damage or injuries have emerged. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), a second earthquake struck at 9:43 AM with a magnitude of 4.5, and this tremor was measured at a depth of 5 kilometers.
Hingoli has experienced a series of minor earthquakes in recent days, including a similar event in July. Due to the relatively low magnitudes, authorities have not reported any significant damage. Local administration quickly assessed the situation, confirming that there were no injuries or property damage. Officials urged residents to remain calm and not to believe in any rumors.
Just days prior, on September 26, Palghar district in Maharashtra also experienced seismic activity, with a quake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale, occurring at a depth of 5 kilometers. In a related event, on September 19, a quake with a magnitude of 4.9 struck Bhutan, affecting northeastern India as well. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority advised residents to stay calm, confirming no reports of damage from that incident.
The recent seismic activity highlights the ongoing geological activity in the region, prompting local authorities to stay vigilant.
