Trump Warns South Korea Over Alaska Pipeline Project Delays
President Trump cautions South Korea about potential consequences if it delays approval for the Alaska pipeline project.

Washington, October 3 (Daily Kiran) : President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to South Korea regarding the Alaska pipeline project, emphasizing that failure to approve the initiative could lead to significant consequences. During a press conference on October 3, Trump stated that he was unconcerned if South Korea chose not to participate. However, his tone shifted when informed that Seoul had yet to grant approval.
Trump told reporters, “Let them know that if they don’t sign soon, I will double the price.” This exchange arose when a journalist inquired about South Korea’s stance on the pipeline during a White House briefing.
The reporter noted, “South Korea has said it has not yet approved the Alaska pipeline and is still considering it. Did you make a hasty statement?” In response, Trump insisted that he had not rushed his comments. He reiterated that if South Korea opted out, he would simply charge them more.
After further questioning about South Korea’s ongoing deliberation, Trump reiterated his warning, suggesting that the costs could increase significantly if an agreement wasn’t reached promptly. However, he did not specify what price he was referring to or provide a timeline for South Korea to make its decision.
The Alaska LNG project aims to transport natural gas from the North Slope of Alaska through a pipeline to a liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility in the southern part of the state. There, the natural gas would be converted to LNG for export. Asian countries are viewed as potential customers for this project, given their reliance on imported energy to meet growing demands.
