
Mysuru, April 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Shri Guru Bhairavaikya Temple in the Adichunchanagiri region of Mandya district, Karnataka, on Wednesday. During the event, he also visited the Kal Bhairav Temple for prayers and spent time at the historic Jwalapeeth. A large number of devotees attended the ceremony.
In his address, the Prime Minister expressed that he was overwhelmed with emotions that were hard to articulate. He remarked that every moment spent at this sacred site, surrounded by saints and the blessings of the crowd, would be a lifelong memory for him. He considered it a privilege to be present on this auspicious occasion and extended his best wishes to everyone.
Highlighting India’s rich cultural heritage, the Prime Minister noted that India has been a vibrant civilization for thousands of years. He emphasized that there are very few examples worldwide where traditions have remained intact for such a long time. Referring to the Shri Adichunchanagiri Math, he stated that it stands as a living testament to nearly 2,000 years of tradition and spiritual heritage. Its lineage, spiritual philosophy, and spirit of service have enriched this land for generations.
PM Modi acknowledged that throughout history, great saints and leaders have emerged in society, who not only provide spiritual guidance but also understand the struggles of the people and show them a way out of difficulties.
He also mentioned the government’s achievements in the health sector, stating that millions of underprivileged individuals have received free treatment under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. The scope of this initiative has been expanded to include all senior citizens over the age of 70, ensuring they receive quality healthcare with dignity.
The Prime Minister paid tribute to the contributions of the Mahaswamiji of Adichunchanagiri Math, who established numerous educational institutions offering education from primary levels to medical and engineering studies. This has greatly benefited children from rural and impoverished families. In the health sector, he has also inspired the establishment of service-oriented institutions to ensure quality treatment reaches every citizen.
In his address, the Prime Minister put forth nine important requests to the public. He urged everyone to commit to water conservation and better management. He encouraged planting trees in honor of one’s mother under the “One Tree in Mother’s Name” campaign and emphasized the importance of environmental protection.
PM Modi called for collective responsibility regarding cleanliness and maintaining hygiene everywhere. He urged the adoption of the “Vocal for Local” initiative, promoting domestic tourism and knowledge of the country. He advised moving towards natural farming and incorporating millets into diets, along with reducing oil intake by 10% to combat obesity.
He stressed the importance of integrating yoga and sports into daily life and highlighted that serving those in need is the foundation of a strong society. In conclusion, PM Modi stated that if these nine requests are sincerely implemented, the dream of a developed Karnataka and a developed India could soon be realized.
