BJP Accuses CM Stalin of Unconstitutional Remarks, Demands Retraction

Chennai, April 15: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) targeted Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Wednesday, labeling his recent statements as ‘unconstitutional.’ The party has demanded that CM Stalin retract his comments immediately.

BJP spokesperson ANS Prasad accused CM Stalin of attempting to undermine national unity with remarks directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He stated that issuing warnings about statewide protests regarding delimitation poses a threat to the constitutional framework.

Prasad emphasized that Stalin’s comments, in which he suggested that Tamil Nadu could be ‘stalled’ to draw national attention, revive outdated separatist notions from Dravidian politics. He referenced the DMK’s historical demand for ‘Dravid Nadu,’ asserting that such ideas are detrimental to the nation’s unity and integrity.

The term ‘Dravid Nadu’ historically referred to a demand for an independent sovereign nation encompassing South India (Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka).

The BJP leader further alleged that CM Stalin is politicizing issues of language, caste, and regional identity ahead of the assembly elections. He claimed there is an attempt to create a climate of fear regarding the delimitation process.

Prasad mentioned the Constitution (106th Amendment) Act, 2023, which represents a historic step in providing 33% reservation for women in Parliament and state assemblies. He accused Stalin of opposing the delimitation process, which could delay or obstruct the implementation of this reservation.

He also noted that the central government has assured that Tamil Nadu’s interests will be fully protected in any delimitation process, ensuring no negative impact on the state’s representation.

The BJP spokesperson accused CM Stalin of portraying the central government as an adversary and spreading ‘panic’ among the public. He claimed that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, projects worth millions of crores have been approved for Tamil Nadu’s development.

Prasad reiterated that the policy of providing 33% reservation for women will be implemented under all circumstances, and no threats or warnings can halt this constitutional process.
