
Mumbai, June 15: On the auspicious occasion of Somvati Amavasya, a significant number of devotees are flocking to rivers for holy baths and visiting temples. The spiritual fervor is palpable, stretching from Prayagraj and Ayodhya to Narmadapuram.
At the Sangam in Prayagraj, many devotees have gathered to take sacred dips. One devotee remarked on the importance of Somvati Amavasya, stating that bathing and performing charitable acts on this day brings immense spiritual merit and blessings.
Speaking from the Sangam, a saint noted that this month is particularly special, filled with important festivals. He added that anyone who bathes in the Ganges today will have their wishes fulfilled, even those who have never participated in such rituals before will receive special benefits.
In Ayodhya, thousands of devotees took holy dips in the Saryu River and performed religious rituals. One devotee mentioned that today marks the last day of the extra month, and bathing in the Saryu yields great rewards. Kiran Tiwari, who came to bathe in the Saryu, emphasized its significant importance, while Kusum Mishra stated that bathing on Amavasya is highly fruitful.
At Ram Ghat in Ujjain, a large crowd has gathered for the holy dips. Priest Ajay Joshi explained that Somvati Amavasya is considered very important, especially this year as it coincides with the extra month and a Monday. It is believed that this alignment grants devotees immense spiritual merit.
In Narmadapuram, the world-famous Sethani Ghat witnessed a massive influx of devotees for Somvati Amavasya. Starting from 4 AM, pilgrims arrived for the sacred bath, charity, and worship from Narmadapuram and surrounding districts.
Authorities have made extensive arrangements for the convenience and safety of the devotees. Police and home guard teams are stationed throughout the ghat area to maintain order. The atmosphere is filled with religious enthusiasm and devotion.
