Greater Noida, October 13 (Daily Kiran) : Police in Greater Noida have arrested a suspect involved in the theft of valuable equipment from mobile towers. The arrest took place at the Dadri police station, where authorities recovered three Remote Radio Units (RRUs) and four Exide batteries, valued at approximately ₹20 lakh.
According to police reports, the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Kayyum Mansuri from Hindon Vihar in Ghaziabad, had been targeting mobile towers in the Noida and Greater Noida areas with accomplices. The stolen equipment was sold at low prices, allowing the group to earn illicit money.
The operation leading to his arrest was carried out on Tuesday, based on manual intelligence and confidential information. Police apprehended Mansuri while he was traveling on a road toward Hazratpur village.
During interrogation, Mansuri revealed that he and his associates planned the thefts together. They specifically targeted mobile towers located in green belt areas of Noida and Greater Noida, stealing valuable items such as RRUs and batteries. The suspect admitted that the proceeds from these sales were used for personal expenses and leisure activities.
The Dadri police have filed charges against Mansuri under relevant sections of the law. Records indicate that he has two previous cases registered against him at the Dadri station. The stolen equipment not only represents significant financial loss but also poses a risk to the operation of telecommunication services in the region.
Following this arrest, the police are now investigating the roles of Mansuri’s accomplices in the thefts. Authorities believe he was actively involved in all aspects of the theft, from planning to selling the stolen equipment.
