BJPs Bansuri Swaraj Accuses Congress of Double Standards on Womens Safety
Bansuri Swaraj criticizes Congress for alleged misconduct towards BJP women workers, questioning their commitment to womens safety.
New Delhi, October 13 (Daily Kiran) : BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj has accused the Congress party of applying double standards regarding women’s respect and safety. Her remarks come in the wake of an incident involving BJP women workers who were reportedly mishandled during a protest outside the Congress headquarters. Swaraj raised concerns over the behavior of Congress leader Sanjeev Singh, who allegedly pushed and behaved inappropriately towards the women, while the party leadership has remained silent on the matter.
Swaraj pointed out the contradiction between Congress’s slogans like “Smash the Patriarchy” and the actions of its top officials. She highlighted that incidents of misconduct towards female police officers and journalists have been reported, further showcasing a troubling pattern. The recent altercation with BJP women workers during a peaceful demonstration reflects this ongoing issue, she argued.
Questioning prominent Congress figures such as Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge, Swaraj asked why there has been no clear response from the party regarding the alleged mistreatment of women workers. She accused Congress of attempting to shield Sanjeev Singh from accountability. Additionally, she referenced complaints from 11 female students at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), where an internal committee found the accused guilty and subsequently dismissed him, yet no expected response from Congress has emerged.
Swaraj emphasized that neither the BJP nor women in the country will be intimidated by such alleged bullying. Citing the Navratri festival, she stated that underestimating women is a mistake. The BJP remains committed to seeking justice for the JNU students and will pursue legal action against the Congress official involved in the recent incident with their women workers.
She concluded by asserting that ensuring justice for women workers is a top priority for the BJP, and the party will not back down in this pursuit.
