CRC and DEA Strengthen Partnership Against Drug Trafficking

New Delhi, March 20: Experts from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and India’s Central Revenue Control Laboratory (CRC) collaborated from March 16 to 20 at the 2026 CRC-DEA Forensic Chemist Workshop held in New Delhi. This partnership highlights the deep collaboration between the U.S. and India in combating illegal drug trafficking and advancing forensic science.

In its second year under the drug task force, the workshop provided a platform for chemists from both agencies to share advanced forensic tools, investigative techniques, and best practices for identifying new illegal substances and disrupting drug trafficking networks. Participants discussed laboratory systems, field techniques for clandestine labs, and methods for analyzing unknown substances. They also reviewed recent trends and emerging threats in the global drug landscape.

During the opening session on March 16, U.S. Deputy Mission Chief Jason Meeks stated that such programs are more than just professional exchanges. They reflect a shared commitment to trust, collaboration, and addressing complex global challenges. The production and trafficking of illegal substances are rapidly evolving, and scientific laboratories play a leading role in identifying new substances, understanding emerging threats, and providing reliable data to investigators and policymakers.

The partnership between the DEA and CRC demonstrates a shared commitment to technical excellence and bilateral cooperation. Through this workshop, both agencies strengthened institutional collaboration, facilitated the exchange of technical expertise, and enhanced joint efforts to tackle challenges posed by synthetic drugs and new chemical compounds, aiming to create a safer and healthier future for the people of both nations.
