Ayodhya, July 1: Questions are being raised about Gopal Rao’s involvement in the Ram Temple Trust amid ongoing controversies. Saints Kalki Ram and Varun Das have called for an investigation into Rao, claiming he has made no significant contributions to the trust and should be removed immediately.
In a conversation, Kalki Ram stated that the revered Dinendra Das has accused Gopal Rao of being untrustworthy. Recently, during a press interaction regarding a donation theft incident, Rao remarked that the media has sensationalized the issue, suggesting that they would only be satisfied with the resignation of Champat Rai. His laughter following this statement raised eyebrows, as it seemed inappropriate given the seriousness of the situation.
Kalki Ram further mentioned that there are reports of a ban on the offering of Charanodak, a sacred water given to devotees. According to Ayodhya’s traditions, every visitor should receive Charanodak and sandalwood. While common devotees are treated with respect, special arrangements are made for VIP guests. He accused Rao of wielding more influence than the temple officials, suggesting that his role appears dubious. A fair and thorough investigation into his actions is necessary. If he is indeed innocent, the inquiry will clarify his standing.
Varun Das echoed these concerns, questioning Rao’s presence in the trust committee despite having no official role or employment at the temple. He noted that Rao is often seen standing close to dignitaries, including the President of India, during their visits. This visibility raises questions about his authority within the temple complex.
Das emphasized that a person with no ties to the trust and no employment at the temple should not be playing such a significant role. This situation sends a negative message to the public, especially as discontent is already brewing among the community.
He added that he visits the temple daily and consistently sees Gopal Rao in the premises. Varun Das demanded immediate action against Rao and insisted he be removed from Ayodhya.
