New Delhi, June 26: Following the resignations of Champat Rai, the General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, and Trustee Anil Mishra, opposition leaders have raised serious questions about the central government and the trust. Sanjay Raut, a Rajya Sabha member from Shiv Sena (UBT), stated, “What will Champat Rai’s resignation achieve? An SIT was formed, and it has submitted its report. They arrested a few minor individuals, but the entire trust should be dissolved.”
He added, “The issue was first raised by SP chief and former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav, which brought this matter to light.”
Congress Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Shukla commented that the resignations of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra do not conclude the issue. He remarked, “If hundreds or thousands of crores were embezzled, did all the money go solely to Champat Rai? This is a significant matter that requires thorough investigation.”
RJD spokesperson Shakti Yadav also criticized the government on this issue. He noted that Akhilesh Yadav had previously stated that the resignations of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra from the trust are a serious concern. Currently, only an FIR has been filed, and some individuals are attempting to protect the ‘big fish’ in this case. He alleged that if the investigation reaches influential figures, many prominent names could emerge. Shakti Yadav stated, “Politics and donation games have been played in the name of Lord Shri Ram. These individuals have no regard for religion or duty. Their sole purpose is to ‘take donations and give donations.’”
Just days after the allegations of fund mismanagement at the Ram Temple surfaced, Champat Rai and Anil Mishra resigned from their positions. According to sources in the Uttar Pradesh government, both have stepped down on moral grounds. Reports indicate that there has been a fraud involving hundreds of crores in donations made by devotees to the Ram Temple, allegedly orchestrated by some employees of the temple in collusion with bank officials.
