Congress Targets CM Mohan Yadav Over Land Deal Allegations

New Delhi, June 24: Allegations against Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav regarding land deals have drawn sharp reactions from opposition leaders. Jitu Patwari, the president of the Madhya Pradesh Congress, stated that if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) does not respond within 30 hours, it implies that they consider the reports to be false. He urged the party to file a police complaint against the media outlet that published the report, emphasizing that with widespread media discussions and social media buzz in Madhya Pradesh, a lack of response raises legitimate questions.

Congress leader Pawan Khera remarked, “Your family had already acquired hundreds of acres of land before you became Chief Minister on December 13, 2023. The timing of these land purchases suggests they were made for family benefit, indicating rampant corruption in land deals.”

Khera further alleged that after assuming office, Yadav’s family purchased 111 acres out of 168 acres in an area designated for the upcoming Mahakumbh festival. He described this as “insider trading,” as the family had prior knowledge of the developments, continuously increasing their land holdings to create a substantial land bank.

Surendra Rajput, another Congress leader, accused the Chief Minister of being a land mafia. He stated, “The level of corruption in the Madhya Pradesh government mirrors that of its Chief Minister. It is evident that BJP members are engaging in rampant corruption, exploiting religion for business and misappropriating funds that could benefit farmers. Mohan Yadav stands to profit from selling land at inflated prices.”

CPI(M) leader Hannan Mollah criticized the BJP’s governance, claiming that development under their rule primarily benefits leaders and their families. He recalled previous scandals during Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s administration and alleged that the new Chief Minister has also initiated similar corrupt practices, distributing millions among family members through the acquisition of over 300 plots.
