Congress Questions BJPs Blessing Diya Event on Modis Birthday

Ujjain, September 17 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday is marked by the ‘Blessing Diya’ event in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, where BJP National President Nitin Naveen is also expected to attend. In response, Congress state president Jitu Patwari emphasized the need to address the public’s pressing issues.

On social media platform X, Patwari directed his remarks at Naveen, questioning the significance of lighting a diya on such an occasion. He recalled the past moments during the COVID-19 crisis when people were encouraged to clap and bang utensils, suggesting that this diya might evoke similar memories. He also referenced the controversial demonetization, implying that Modi’s actions have often left the public in difficult situations.

Patwari provocatively compared the current political scene to the infamous tale of Nero fiddling while Rome burned. He challenged the BJP to reflect on whether the past 12 years have genuinely improved education, healthcare, infrastructure, job opportunities for youth, and farmers’ incomes. If so, he said, then lighting the diya would be justified.

He pointed out that many citizens still grapple with inflation, unemployment, and a failing healthcare system. This raises the question: is this diya a symbol of development or merely a political stunt to distract from the public’s struggles?

Despite his criticisms, Patwari extended birthday wishes to the Prime Minister, asserting that it is essential to illuminate the darkness surrounding the people’s questions before celebrating with a diya.

The ‘Blessing Diya’ event coincides with the BJP’s launch of a month-long service campaign, aimed at community engagement. The grand ceremony on September 17 in Ujjain is expected to draw significant attention.
