New Delhi, February 25: Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi has criticized the Modi government, asserting that protesting is a fundamental right of every youth. He questioned how such actions could be labeled as treason.
At an AI summit in Delhi, Youth Congress activists staged a shirtless protest. Following this demonstration, BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Modi, launched attacks on Congress, labeling the activists as shameful and even treasonous.
On Tuesday, Delhi police arrested Youth Congress chief Uday Bhanu Chib, prompting a strong response from Congress. Channi stated that the current government is steering the nation away from democracy towards dictatorship. He emphasized that the government has resorted to authoritarianism, branding young protesters as traitors. The situation has escalated to the point where dissenting voices are no longer tolerated.
Channi highlighted the plight of youth who are struggling to find jobs and are left with no choice but to protest. He condemned the government’s actions against Chib and his team, vowing to oppose such measures and liberate the country from what he termed “black Britishers.”
Congress leader Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding condemned the arrest of Uday Bhanu Chib, stating that the Youth Congress had only engaged in a democratic and peaceful protest. He accused Prime Minister Modi’s government of misusing power and expressed solidarity with the Youth Congress leaders who have effectively challenged the government.
