Police Arrest Suspect in Chain Snatching Case in Mandawali, Recover Stolen Gold Chain and Motorcycle

Mandawali, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : The police in Mandawali, East Delhi, have arrested a 22-year-old man named Lov Kumar in connection with a chain snatching incident. Authorities recovered a stolen gold chain and a motorcycle used in the crime during the arrest.

The investigation was initiated after a PCR call reported the incident. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim, Shyam Gupta, who explained that his mother had been returning home from a temple around 7 a.m. when an unknown assailant snatched her gold chain near their home and fled on a red motorcycle with an accomplice.

Following the complaint, an FIR was registered at the Mandawali police station. Under the supervision of Inspector Anil Malik and ACP Yogesh Malhotra from the Mayur Vihar sub-division, a special team was formed to investigate the case. The team included SI Vishwender, Head Constable Deepak, Head Constable Imran, Constable Pradeep, and Constable Firoz.

During the investigation, police analyzed footage from over 50 CCTV cameras in the area. They also utilized technical surveillance and informants to identify suspects. Based on continuous inquiries and tips, police apprehended Lov Kumar near Akshardham. He is a resident of Khanpur Kalan in Uttar Pradesh‘s Shamli district. At the time of his arrest, he was riding a motorcycle with an accomplice, who managed to escape on foot.

Further investigation revealed that the motorcycle used in the crime had been reported stolen in an e-FIR filed at the South Rohini police station on July 20, 2026. The police have successfully recovered the stolen gold chain and the motorcycle. They are now searching for the second suspect and investigating Kumar’s potential involvement in other criminal activities.
