Rohit Shetty Receives Threat, Extortion Demand of ₹20 Crore

Mumbai, June 28: Renowned film director Rohit Shetty has received another threat. This time, an alleged audio clip demands an extortion of ₹20 crore. The clip warns that if the money is not paid, Rohit Shetty himself will be targeted.

Following this alarming incident, the Mumbai police and crime branch have entered alert mode and initiated an investigation. The audio clip suggests that a previous shooting incident at Shetty’s Juhu residence was merely a warning. If the demanded amount is not paid, the next attack will be aimed directly at the filmmaker.

Reports indicate that the approximately 90-second audio clip was received by Shetty’s staff on Saturday morning. Without delay, the staff handed it over to the police, prompting the Juhu police station to begin the investigation process.

Initial investigations revealed that the voice in the audio bears a resemblance to that of Shubham Lonkar, a close associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

According to police sources, Lonkar has been linked to several serious cases, including the murder of politician Baba Siddiqui in 2024 and the shooting incident at Rohit Shetty’s home earlier this year. However, the police have yet to officially confirm the voice and have sent it for forensic analysis.

A senior officer from the Mumbai crime branch stated that the threatening audio has been submitted by Shetty’s staff and is being taken seriously. Currently, investigations are ongoing into all technical aspects, and efforts are underway to trace the source of the audio clip. Once the forensic report is available, further action will be expedited.
