Mumbai, June 1: The new web series ‘Rakh’ is making waves on OTT platforms. The trailer, released on Monday, has captured the audience’s attention immediately. It showcases a horrific crime, a shattered family, and characters in pursuit of the truth. Sonali Bendre plays the role of ‘Mona Arora’ and describes this project as the most significant of her career.
Bendre expressed, “The greatest feature of this series is its depth and emotional complexity. At first glance, it appears to be a thriller, but at its core lies a deeply sensitive story about human emotions and relationships. This series has allowed me to portray emotional aspects that I have never showcased on screen before.”
Discussing her character, Sonali said, “Mona Arora is a woman who embodies both weakness and strength. She breaks down under circumstances yet faces them head-on. Portraying this character has been a deeply fulfilling experience for me.”
She praised director Proshit Roy and writers-directors Anusha Nandakumar and Sandeep Saket, stating, “The entire team has brought the story to life with honesty. I hope the audience connects with it as emotionally as the team did while creating it.”
Ali Fazal, who plays SI Jai Prakash in the series, shared his initial thoughts, “I initially thought ‘Rakh’ would be a typical crime thriller based on an investigation. However, after reading the script, I was completely captivated by the story. It beautifully blends emotional depth, reality, and mystery. It’s not just a crime investigation tale; it also attempts to understand the minds and thoughts of each character.”
Fazal described his character Jai Prakash as a calm police inspector who speaks little and strives to understand everything deeply. “I enjoyed exploring the mental struggles and perspectives of this character. Jai Prakash is someone who, despite his shortcomings and challenges, strives to prove himself. He is constantly searching for the right path amid changing social and political landscapes.”
Aamir Bashir, who plays Lieutenant Colonel Ashok Arora, also described ‘Rakh’ as one of the most challenging projects of his career. He noted, “It is a profound story that unfolds in many layers. My character is a strong individual whose life changed completely after a traumatic event. Portraying this character has been emotionally difficult for me.”
In addition to Sonali Bendre, Ali Fazal, and Aamir Bashir, the series features Akash Makheja, Ramdeep Yadav, Divya Sharma, Vivaan Sharma, Anshul Chauhan, Rakesh Bedi, and Divyendu Bhattacharya in significant roles.
‘Rakh’ is set to premiere on June 12 on Prime Video, reaching over 240 countries and regions worldwide.
