Lucknow, October 7 (Daily Kiran) : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made headlines on Wednesday with a pointed critique of the Samajwadi Party (SP), asserting that the recent Rajya Sabha elections indicate a forthcoming electoral outcome of “80 percent NDA and 20 percent PDA.” His remarks came shortly after the SP announced its decision to field two candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections, which likely ensures the unopposed selection of two SP candidates alongside eight from the BJP.
Speaking at an event in Lucknow, Adityanath stated, “The results of the Rajya Sabha elections have made it clear how the assembly elections will unfold. The competition has reverted to an 80-20 ratio.” He emphasized that the NDA would secure 80 percent of the seats, while the PDA would be left with just 20 percent.
Adityanath also took a jab at the SP’s slogan regarding the PDA, which stands for “Pichhda, Dalit, and Alpasankhyak” (Backward, Dalit, and Minority). He remarked, “You will soon witness the true status of the PDA.”
The SP’s leader, Akhilesh Yadav, had recently coined the term PDA, expressing a focus on these communities. Yadav had previously stated on social media that his attention was now on the 403 assembly seats rather than the Rajya Sabha elections, suggesting a shift in strategy after deciding not to field a third candidate.
These comments were made during the ‘Seva Jyoti Yatra – Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha’ at Patel Park in Hazratganj, Lucknow. Adityanath also took the opportunity to congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the completion of 25 years in public service, calling the occasion historic. He expressed pride on behalf of the people of Uttar Pradesh, wishing Modi continued success in his endeavors.
Adityanath noted, “Today is a proud day for every Indian, as Prime Minister Modi marks 25 years of public service, first as Chief Minister of Gujarat and now as Prime Minister of India.”
