Punjab CM Slams BJP Over CBI Raids, Claims No Evidence Found

Chandigarh, October 7 (Daily Kiran) : Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has sharply criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following a 12-hour Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raid that reportedly yielded no results. Speaking in Chandigarh, Mann stated that the CBI teams returned empty-handed, which he interprets as evidence of the state government’s integrity.

Mann accused the BJP of utilizing central agencies to intimidate elected officials and tarnish their reputations ahead of elections. He emphasized that neither he nor the Punjab government would be intimidated by such tactics, asserting that their political involvement is focused on serving the people rather than personal gain.

During an event in Sangrur, Mann expressed confidence in facing the central agencies, stating, “We are not going anywhere. We will confront the CBI and answer every question. The BJP must understand that the people of Punjab will not be cowed by threats or pressure tactics.”

The timing of the CBI raid, according to Mann, is significant and indicative of the BJP’s preparations for the upcoming assembly elections. He pointed out a recurring pattern where central agencies become active in states facing political challenges from the BJP, citing previous instances in Delhi and other states.

Mann declared that Punjab would not fall prey to such intimidating political strategies. He remarked, “The CBI teams that came to Punjab have already returned empty-handed. They arrived with an agenda, but what did they find? Nothing at all.”

He further asserted that when no wrongdoing has occurred, such raids serve merely to create an atmosphere of fear and damage reputations. Mann believes that these actions aim not only to politically target him but also to undermine the work of his family and the Punjab government.

“This is an attempt to defame me, my family, and our government’s efforts. However, such conspiracies will not deter us from serving the people of Punjab. The BJP is making futile and desperate attempts to harass us,” he concluded.
