CISF Takes Charge of Security for RRTS Namo Bharat Corridor

New Delhi, April 7: In a significant move for urban transport security in the National Capital Region (NCR), the security of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) ‘Namo Bharat’ corridor was officially handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) during a ceremony held in New Ashok Nagar.

This event marks the beginning of CISF’s full deployment for the security of India’s first high-speed regional transit system, aimed at ensuring safe and improved travel for passengers across the NCR.

During the ceremony, Shalabh Goyal, Managing Director of NCRTC, presented a symbolic key to Praveer Ranjan, Director General (DG) of CISF. This gesture represents a major milestone in strengthening the security arrangements for this new generation high-speed transit system.

The program commenced with a ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of accommodation for CISF personnel stationed on RRTS duty. This is a crucial step towards enhancing infrastructure for the CISF officers.

Senior officials from CISF and NCRTC reviewed operational and infrastructure preparations and interacted with the personnel deployed for corridor security.

The deployment of CISF will ensure robust security across the entire RRTS network, incorporating advanced surveillance systems, access control, anti-sabotage checks, and rapid response capabilities.

Praveer Ranjan, DG of CISF, stated, “The deployment of CISF in the RRTS ‘Namo Bharat’ network is a vital step in securing India’s modern transport infrastructure. As transport systems become faster and more interconnected, our approach to security must also be advanced, integrated, and technology-based. CISF is committed to providing a seamless, robust, and passenger-centric security environment that not only protects infrastructure but also instills confidence in travelers. We look forward to collaborating with NCRTC and all stakeholders to set high standards in RRTS.”

The event also included an introductory tour, where the DG of CISF, the MD of NCRTC, and other officials took a brief journey from New Ashok Nagar to Anand Vihar and from Anand Vihar to Sarai Kale Khan RRTS stations.

CISF’s formal deployment, along with the jointly developed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with Delhi Metro, will ensure a uniform and superior security framework across the entire transit network. This includes standardized regulations, coordinated inspections, controlled access, and enhanced passenger safety.

The RRTS ‘Namo Bharat’ project, implemented by NCRTC under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, is a major initiative aimed at providing fast, reliable, and sustainable regional connectivity. Designed for speeds of up to 180 km/h, the first phase of the Delhi-Meerut corridor is set to significantly reduce travel times across the NCR.
