Mumbai: Actress Chitrangda Singh will be seen playing the role of an army officer’s wife in the upcoming film ‘Battle of Galwan’. During her preparation, she deeply explored the strength and emotional fears experienced by women from military families.
Chitrangda shared that this role gave her a better understanding of the struggles faced by her mother and many other women. Being the daughter of an Indian Army officer, she was already familiar with the uniform, frequent postings, and disciplined lifestyle. However, meeting army wives and listening to their stories for the film was a completely different experience. She said, “Hearing my father’s army stories was normal for me, but portraying an army wife was unique. Meeting these women helped me understand my mother’s silent mix of pride, fear, and strength.”
She added, “These women carry both courage and fear within themselves every day. In my role, I have tried to show not just bravery or a smile, but also the emotion of learning to hold oneself together even when the heart is breaking.”
In the film, Chitrangda’s character represents the Indian women who stand firmly behind soldiers in uniform. She provides emotional support to Salman Khan’s character, bringing tenderness, dignity, and stability to the story.
‘Battle of Galwan’ is based on the violent clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers in the Galwan Valley on 15 June 2020. This confrontation was part of the larger border dispute along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), which resulted in the martyrdom of 20 Indian soldiers.
Directed by Apurva Lakhia, the film will release in theatres on 17 April. Alongside Chitrangda Singh and Salman Khan, the cast includes Ankur Bhatia, Abhilash Chaudhary, Vipin Bhardwaj, and Siddharth.
