
Ujjain, February 11: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will inaugurate the five-day ‘Mahakal Van Mela’ in the religious city of Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, on Wednesday.
This grand event will take place at the Dashahara Maidan in Seth Nagar. During the inauguration, the Chief Minister will also launch the ‘Mahakal Smriti Gift’ created by the Minor Forest Produce Processing and Research Center (MFP Park).
According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s office on Tuesday, CM Yadav will also kick off a new initiative by the Forest Department called ‘Mahakal Van Prasadam’. The ‘Mahakal Van Mela’ will be themed around “Prosperous Forests, Happy People” and will run from February 11 to February 16. This marks the first time a forest fair is being held in the holy city of Ujjain.
The statement noted, “The forest fair aims to promote the display, conservation, enhancement, processing, and marketing of non-timber forest products collected by forest dwellers from across the state.”
Gatherers of non-timber forest products, Van Dhan Centers, primary small forest produce cooperatives, traders, and representatives from herbal and Ayurvedic industries will participate in the event to showcase and sell their products.
Facilities for visitors will include a play area for children, wheelchairs, golf carts, seating areas, water points, and selfie spots. The fair will also feature buyer-seller conferences, free medical consultations by Ayurvedic doctors and traditional healers, informative cultural programs, and traditional food offerings.
Special attractions at the event will include a family of cheetahs and a giant dinosaur statue, wheelchair and golf cart services for senior citizens, separate seating arrangements for patients receiving treatment in OPD, free bus service from the Mahakal Temple to the fair venue, and an engaging kids’ zone for children.
During the event, the Chief Minister will present appreciation certificates to divisional forest officers (DFOs) and the managing director of the South Panna District Union, as well as to the forest guard of the South Panna District Union.
